Ryan Brooks hammered a hat-trick as Ardley United moved up to third in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division with a storming 6-0 win at Cheltenham Saracens on Saturday.

Striker Steve Howkins headed Ardley in front from Jon Gardner’s free-kick.

Brooks doubled Ardley’s lead with a shot through keeper Ryan Betterridge’s legs on half-time.

The former Oxford United youngster made it 3-0 on 67 minutes with a25-yard curler past Betteridge.

On 75 minutes, Brooks completed his treble with a clinical finish.

Howkins made it 5-0 from the penalty spot at the second attempt, before substitute Tommy Kinch completed the rout with No 6.

Wantage Town are only behindleaders Reading Town on goal difference, thanks to a 1-0 victory at ten-man Oxon rivals Kidlington.

Kidlington were reduced to ten men on 86 minutes when Marley Thomas was sent off after tangling with Gareth Brown. And the hosts’ day got worse a minute later when Wantage got the winner.

Andy Younie’s shot was handled in the box and Tom Melledew blasted home the resulting penalty to maintain Wantage’s winning start.

Goals from Steve Robertson (2), Ryan Wilkinson, Matt Bown and Richard Miles saw Shrivenham storm to 5-4 win at Newbury.

Gary Dredge (2), Darren Jones and Alex Oakham hit back.

Abingdon United let slip a two-goal advantage as they went down to a 3-2 defeat at Binfield.

It was looking good for Abingdon when Graham Edney and Kieran Cochrane put them 2-0 up.

However, Carl Davies (2) and Jamel Johnson won it for the hosts. Thame United eased to a 2-0 home win against Holyport.

Ben Connelly gave Mark West’s side the lead when he tucked away a Taylor Collins cross.

Thame should have made it 2-0 from the spot on 55 minutes after Niall Hodgkins was fouled.

However, Nik Rhodes saw his resulting penalty saved by Garry Aulsberry in the Holyport goal.

But five minutes later, Thame did get a second when Lynton Goss buried his shot after a mazy run.

Abingdon Town got off the mark, thanks to 1-1 draw at home to Highmoor Ibis. Joe Parker scored for Abingdon, with Mo Davies replying.
