Didcot Town were denied their first win of the Calor League Division 1 South & West campaign after conceding a late equaliser to draw 1-1 with high-fliers Cinderford Town at the Draycott Engineering Loop Meadow Stadium on Saturday.

With the game in stoppage time and Town leading through a Nick Thorne strike, it looked as though Andy Wallbridge’s side would break their duck.

However, six minutes into time added on, home skipper Luke Carnell brought down Simon Prangley and Andy Lewis fired in the resulting spot-kick.

After a forgettable first half, it was the visitors who came closest to breaking the deadlock after the break.

Sam O’Sullivan broke forward before rattled the base of a post. O’Sullivan then brought a full-length save out of the Didcot keeper Gareth Tucker on 58 minutes.

But Didcot were left kicking themselves as once Thorne had put his side ahead with ten minutes to go there looked to be no way back, but the visitors hit back to snatch a late point.

This afternoon, Andy Wallbridge’s side wil be looking to end their winless run at Oxfordshire rivals North Leigh.

Didcot Tn: Tucker, Longford, Janes, Meade, Carnell, Morris, Ferreira (Blenford 79); Williams (McKirnan 71), Joyce, Haysham, Halls (Thorne 55).
