SWEATSHOP SOUTHERN LEAGUE

RADLEY finished runners-up in Division 1 after coming second in their final round meeting at Tilsley Park, Abingdon.

Although only promoted to the top flight this year, Radley have impressed and ended up just three points behind champions Southampton.

Radley lost out to Chelmsford by four points on the day, despite some stellar performances.

David Gain broke the club and division record to win the 200m in 21.39secs.

Ashley Johnson clocked 14.49 to win the 110m hurdles, setting a club and league record in the process.

Although competing in the B string 100m, Jordan Dorrian broke Radley’s under 20 record to win in 10.99.

Under 17 javelin thrower Tom Anstice continued his good form with the senior weight, winning the event with a throw of 51.23m.

Despite having completed three decathlons in three weeks, Osman Muswke still won the shot putt and discus.

Muskwe set a decathlon best of 7,326 points at Stoke the previous week, ranking him seventh in Britain.

Lois Waknell dominated the ladies’ sprints, taking the 100m (12.78) and 200m (26.11).

Gina Sunderland took the 100m hurdles in 15.82, with Paula Owen winning the 400m hurdles in 1min 7.97secs.

Hayley Perrin won the long jump in 5.38, while Radley also took the 4x100m relay.

OXFORD City secured promotion from Division 3 North after a second-place finish in their final round at Woodford.

A top-two finish at Woodford was all Oxford needed to guarantee promotion and bounce back at the first attempt by coming fourth in the table.

Ian Castle was City’s only men’s A-string winner, taking the javelin in 44.82m.

But the women collected nine victories between them.

Melissa Hawtin destroyed the field in both the 1,500m (4mins 57.23secs) and 3,000m (10.21.06) races, winning by margins of 12 and 25 seconds.

Aliysa Codrington (400m), Sarah Davies (800m), Adela Hussain (110m hurdles), Lauren Hawtin (1,500m steeplechase) and Jacqui Breslin (pole vault) were their other individual winners.

City added 4x100m and 4x400m relay victories.
