WILL Woodley hit a half-century as Oxfordshire pulled off a 14-run victory over Essex Under 10s.

Ruben Barksfield and Dan Rowley got Oxfordshire off to a slow start, before a solid partnership between Barksfield and Will Woodley.

Barksfield and then Luke Maslen fell as Oxon moved to 78-3 at the halfway point.

Woodley and Gus Miller then put on 90 before the latter was out for 39.

In came under 10 James Coles, who he formed another good stand with Woodley, upping the run-rate considerably.

Woodley passed 50 and carried on playing some great shots.

The 65-run partnership was finally broken when Coles was bowled and Woodley’s excellent innings came to an end when he was run out off the final delivery for a top score of 77.

Oxfordshire finished on 189-5 in 40 overs, their highest total of the campaign.

Essex, in reply, were always behind the run rate and Oxon restricted them to 175-7 to take the honours.
