OXFORD City Stars have retained the services of forwards Joe Edwards and Sam Broughton, as well as defender Sam Arnold.

All three were part of the side which won the National League Division 2 South title last season, having come through the junior ranks.

Edwards returned to Oxford last summer after spen-ding a season with Milton Keynes Thunder and was an ever-present, scoring 15 goals.

Broughton has been a solid performer since he came back to the club in 2010.

He scored eight goals and registered 13 assists in the last campaign.

Arnold broke into the first team last season, despite only initially being called up from the under 18 side as injury cover.

However, he impressed so much that he went on to make 19 appearances.

Head coach Darren Elliott said of the announcements: “Joe is a very talented offensive player.

“He’s a real fans’ favourite with his quick hands and regular scoring ability.

“Sam (Broughton) has a big on-ice presence and won the supporters’ club player of the season last year.

“We are really glad to have the other Sam back this season as he was one of our most improved last year.”
