Sophie Mitchelmore captured five wickets as Oxon under 13 girls defeated Notts by 11 runs.

Mitchelmore has developed the handy knack of both taking a wicket in her first over, and removing the opposition’s most dangerous batter.

She did both again in this match with the turning point being the removal of Kelsey Cox – bowled for 60 – as she was dictating the game.

Oxon put on 132 for 9 in overcast conditions at Tiddington with no-one really getting set at the crease.

Plenty made starts but the top score of 17 went to Mitchelmore who put on 36 for the sixth wicket with Rebecca Woodnorth.

In reply, Notts looked dead and buried at 11-3 but recovered to 51-4 with a good partnership between opener Cox and Rebecca King.

Cox steered her team to within sight of victory and with her wicket intact Notts were always favourites.

But Oxon captain Ellie Noble brought herself and Mitchelmore back into attack and the latter clean bowled Cox to earn her side victory.
