John Bellinger, from Kidlington, enjoyed a cracking week’s carp fishing in France, landing six fish over 20lb, topped by a personal best of 42lb 7oz.

He was in a group of eight anglers from the Six Bells AS in Kidlington, who fished Winton’s Carp Fishery in Rugles, Normandy.

John, who has only been carping for just over five years, captured commons of 20.3.0, 21.4.0 and 21.8.0, plus mirrors of 18.8.0, 37.14.0 and 42.2.0, as well as his lump of 42.7.0 (pictured above), which was a personal best.

He used fairly simple tactics of a hair-rigged Cell boilie to No 8 hook, cast 50 yards out. He also used a bait boat to distribute his feed accurately.

This is a favourite venue for John, who took 12 carp from the same swim two years ago.

Six Bells’ landlord Nick Griffiths also caught five carp, while Martin Castle had four.
