ASTON Rowant powered to victory over Abingdon Vale in the Oxfordshire Under 13 League final at Bicester & North Oxford CC.

Ben Coldicott and Josh Franklin each made 32 not out as Rowant racked up 137-6 in their 20 overs, Max Owen taking 2-28.

Tom Price also hit an unbeaten 32 in Vale’s reply as his side reached 77-4 from ten overs.

However, tight bowling, backed up by some excellent fielding which yielded three run outs, put the brakes on Vale’s progress and they finally closed on 110-8.

In the semi-finals, Tom Brine took 3-10 as Combe were skittled for 49 before Franklin (21) led Rowant to 53-4.

Sammy Lion-Cachet and Owen took two wickets apiece as Challow & Childrey were reduced to 79-6, then Price (31no) led Vale to 83-1.

Challow won the third-placed play-off by four wickets, with Freddie Robson (27no) leading them to 112-6.

Combe had made 109-8, which featured 32 not out from Josh Brooks and 3-13 from Will Humphries.

In Group B of the Oxfordshire Under 17 competition, Cumnor roared to a 146-run victory at Kingston Bagpuize.

An opening stand of 138 by Callum Russell and Harry Ackland, who both made 64, was followed by a rapid half-century by Joe Calcutt off just 18 balls.

With thunder threatening to disrupt the match, the visitors took the bold step of declaring after 17 of their 20 overs with the score on 211-1.

They then restricted Bagpuize to 65 -1, Aled Newton finishing unbeaten on 30.

Aston Rowant kept up their winning ways at Oxford.

Hugo Campbell-Harris took 2-17 as the hosts reached 103-8 off their 20 overs, Nibal Khan top-scoring with 25.

The visitors then needed just 11.2 overs to knock the runs off, Andrew Tolson leading the charge with 33.

At Thame, an unbeaten 58 from Bilal Hamid saw Horspath to 157-5.

Support was provided by Dominic O’Connor with 43 and Graham Beer with 35, Dan Patey taking 3-14.

In reply, Thame were restricted to 131-9, with Patey 43 and Ollie Sutcliffe 33, Asad Rafiq taking 2-4.
