DARREN Elliott has stepped up to become Oxford City Stars’ new head coach.
Elliott will also continue as a player and will be assisted by Jeff Sykora, who is now director of coaching for Stars’ junior side.
On the playing front, Oxford have announced that forward Jacob Smith will return for a seventh season with the National League Division 2 (South) club.
Smith scored a crucial equalising goal at Peterborough last season, which helped propel Stars to the league title.
Elliott said: “I’m delighted to have Jacob back in the team again this season.
“He is a very good all-round player whose game is always noticed, but never for the wrong reasons.”
Stars expect to announce further signings ahead of the pre-season challenge match at Solihull Barons on Sunday, August 18.
