WILF BENNETT TROPHY
OXFORD reached the final after a controversial three-wicket victory at Cumnor off the last ball.
Set 161 for victory, holders Oxford needed one run to win from the final delivery.
Adam Price swung and missed, while Cumnor keeper Chris Mitty went for the stum-ping.
Price was given not out and Oxford were allowed to run a bye after Mitty threw the ball away in celebration, thinking Cumnor had won on countback.
Earlier, Ali Morteza (75) and John Williams (60) starred in Cumnor’s 160-7 after winning the toss.
Chris Sandbach (52) and Stewart Laudat (42) led Oxford’s reply, which reached a dramatic climax.
Oxford will now face Cropredy or Tiddington, whose semi-final takes place on Sunday, August 4.
