MATT Heath has been released by Oxford United following the signing of Johnny Mullins.
The 32-year-old had been on trial for most of pre-season, playing 45 minutes against Ardley United and Birmingham City.
But with Mullins filling the vacant centre back slot earlier this week, there is no scope to offer a deal to Heath, who was released by Colchester United at the end of last season.
U’s assistant manager Mickey Lewis said: “I thought Matt did pretty well against Birmingham but obviously with the acquisition of Johnny Mullins, we obviously have no room for Heathy as well.
“We wish him well because he’s a smashing lad and a good professional, I hope he gets fixed up somewhere.”
