Chris Jenkins was in exceptional form as he clanged off 16 dolls (5-5-6) to inspire Gladiators A to a 3-0 win at New Club A although the game was a lot closer than the scoreline suggests.

The Gladiators only won the first two legs by the odd doll 27-26, 27-26, but wrapped up maximum leads points in the final leg 29-24. John Horton was top dog for New Club with 13 (5-5-3).

Three Pigeons smashed off 96 dolls in their clash against Six Bells C Kidlington with all but one of their players hitting double figures. Paul Townsend led the way with 14 dolls (6-4-4) as Pete Dempsey, Stuart Rainbow, Paul Sawyer, and Neil Lyon all hit 13 dolls as they won all legs 32-28, 34-23, 30-25. Steve Ward replied for Six Bells with 14 dolls (5-6-3).

Cricketers B extended their lead at the top of the Premier Section with a 3-0 win at Ampleforth Arms. Philip Adams showed them the way with 14 dolls (4-4-6) and was well supported by Dennis Sellar (6-4-3) as they claimed all three legs 28-21, 27-20, 33-21. Two scores of 13 by brothers Barry and Martin Ruffels were enough to see Garsington Sports A over the finishing line against Red Lion A, Eynsham. After losing the opening leg 27-21 they came back to win the next two 28-27, 25-22. A baker’s dozen from James Bennett (3-5-5) could not prevent Six Bells A Quarry from a 2-1 defeat at home to Bullnose Morris A in Section 2. They lost the opening leg by one doll 23-22 and levelled in the next leg 23-18. Bells could set only 15 in the final leg which Bullnose passed easily with 18.

Team Monarch almost inflicted the first defeat for Rose Hill Club A after taking the opening leg 24-21.

Rose Hill came back well in the next leg 18-15 and then set 19 in the deciding leg. Team Monarch fell one doll short with 18 which would have tied the leg. Rose Hill are the league’s only unbeaten team.

Thirteen dolls (5-3-5) from Woodman’s Neil Pratley was the difference as they got the better of Griffin 2-1. Woodman won the first leg 15-13, but Griffin came back to level 23-18. Woodman set in the final leg with 22 which proved to be just enough as Griffin fell three short with 19.

Section 3 pacesetters Red Lion B Yarnton lost their unbeaten record to Chequers C.

The damage was done in the first two legs which they lost 23-18, 19-18, but they clawed back a point in the final leg 19-16. Three Horseshoes kept their title hopes alive with a 3-0 win at Kennington Club A. After winning the first leg 17-13 they hit 26 in the next two which was enough as the club men replied with 19 and 17. Top doll scorer in Section 4, Chris Webb, bagged himself a six in his 13 doll haul for Six Bells B Quarry in their 3-0 win at New Club B.

Bells took the opening leg 24-20, but had to rely on three sticks in the next leg after it was tied 16-16.

The last leg saw Six Bells chasing a set of 20 with anchor man Webb needing five to win. He clanged off a maximum to give them all three points.

Barry Gilding was top man for New Club with 11 dolls (2-3-6).

Kidlington Sports B hit an impressive 27 in their opening leg against Tiddington CC who replied with 22. They took the next leg 18-16 with the Cricket men taking the final leg 17-13.

Mick Walsh hit his best score of the season with 13 dolls (3-5-5), but still ended up on the losing side as Masons Arms A went down 2-1 to Garsington Sports B 13-15, 19-22, 17-12.

In Section 5, Donnington Club A’s Lee Worrall started off with a two then clanged off two fives for his 12 dolls as they came away from King & Queen B with maximum points 18-15, 22-15, 23-16.
