Under 17 boys
OXFORDSHIRE completed a superb 54-run victory over a very strong Buckinghamshire in their ECB County Cup clash at Shipton-under-Wychwood.
After posting 247-9 in their 50 overs, Oxon appeared to be staring down the barrel against the previously unbeaten Group 3B leaders, who got off to a flying start.
But the introduction of spinners Saim Hussain (4-22) and Angus Spittles (3-34) wrestled the advantage away from Bucks, who fell away to be dismissed for 193.
Tom Costley was the pick of Oxon’s batsmen with 58 from 57 balls, while captain Andrew Tolson (46) also shone.
With Matt Shepherd (68) starring, Bucks were 100-1 from only 15 overs.
But Hussain and Spittles turned the tide in Oxfordshire’s favour, while Zak Jarvis chipped in with two wickets.
Scores: Oxfordshire Under 17 247-9 (50 ovs, T Costley 58, A Tolson 46), Buckinghamshire Under 17 193 (43 ovs, M Shepherd 66, S Hussain 4-22, A Spittles 3-34).
