NORTH Oxford’s senior team won a closely-contested Rhys Richards Shield for only the fifth time in the event’s 33-year history.
This year’s stableford competition between four clubs was hosted by Stowe, but home advantage did not help as they finished fourth on 184 points.
North Oxford’s team of Ray Southgate, Dave Scott, Les Morton, Alan Dachtler, John Chesman and Mick French took the trophy, finishing on 207 points.
Leighton Buzzard were just four adrift, with Apsley third on 199.
