PAUL Simpson is looking forward to a first visit to Gleneagles after booking a place in the final.
The Witney professional, who represents West Berks, won the regional qualifier at Studley Wood with amateur Richard Muldoon.
They shot a ten-under-par round of 63, two clear of Dusan Gavrilovic and Ian Payne, who were playing on their home course.
Simpson, who played in the 2007 final, was thrilled to edge through and book a return trip to the £43,600 grand final, which this year will be held at the host course for next year’s Ryder Cup.
He said: “You like to think you know enough about tournament golf and try and see it through.
“I felt we could have done with one more shot by the end, but then I always think that.
“I’ve never played at Gleneagles before so I’m looking forward to that.”
