Nathan Douglas will bid to complete a fine turnaround in the men’s triple jump in the UK Championships at Birmingham this weekend.
The Oxford City athlete has been beset by injuries of late.
Although he managed to gain selection to the 2008 Beijing Olympics and 2010 European Championships in Spain, Douglas has suffered a host of setbacks since taking silver at the European Championships in 2006.
An injury last year looked career-threatening, but Douglas has bounced back.
After the Diamond League meeting in Birmingham a fortnight ago, he said: “It was the first time I felt like me – I am getting back into shape.”
Douglas’s hopes have been boosted with the news that British No 1 Phillips Idowu will sit out the event.
Lawrence Clarke will line up alongside Radley duo Richard Baderin and Ashley Johnson in the men’s 110m hurdles.
Other Oxfordshire athletes include Radley’s Carolyn Plateau in the women’s 800m, Oxford City’s David Gain in the men’s 200m and Rhys Glastonbury, from Long Hanborough, in the 1,500m.
