Olympic champion Alex Gregory is among several Oxfordshire rowers included in the Great Britain team for the final World Cup of the year in Lucerne this weekend.

Henley resident Gregory returns to the team after missing the last World Cup at Eton Dorney due to a virus, but was part of the British eight which won the Grand Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta last weekend.

Gregory joins Olympic crew-mates Andy Triggs Hodge and Pete Reed, as well as Henley’s Will Satch in what will be the final opportunity to race top-class competition ahead of next month’s World Championships in South Korea.

Great Britain’s women, including Oxford’s Olivia Carnegie-Brown and Wallingford’s Katie Greves, will get to race an eight again after missing out at Eton Dorney due to a lack of entries from their opponents.

And Wheatley’s Frances Houghton will reunite with fellow Leander rower Vicky Meyer-Laker after their gold in the double sculls at Eton Dorney.

Henley-based Peter Lambert and his quadruple sculls crew-mates travel to Lucerne looking for to improve on their fifth-place finish at last month’s World Cup.

Also hoping to better their result at Eton Dorney are Oxford’s Kathryn Twyman and double sculls partner Imogen Walsh, following their silver medal last month.

Henley-based Nick Middleton will join the second men’s eight boat in Lucerne, along with Mason Durant, of Oxford Brookes.

Brothers Peter and Richard Chambers, formerly of Oxford Brookes, are selected once again for the men’s lightweight double sculls.

The pair won silver at Eton, hanging on to second place after surrendering their lead to Poland in the most dramatic race of the event.

And the Leander Club trio of William Fletcher, Jonathan Clegg and Olympic silver medallist Chris Bartley make up three-quarters of the lightweight men’s four crew, joining Adam Freeman-Pask as they look to improve on third place at Eton.
