OXFORD United supporters have launched a campaign to buy Dave Langan’s medals.

Financial difficulties have forced the former Republic of Ireland international, who played in United’s successful sides during the 1980s, to put his Milk Cup and Division 2 winners medals up for sale.

Langan wants to raise £5,000 to help buy a mobile home to live in with his wife.

United’s supporter groups, who this week came together under a ‘Yellow Army banner’, are calling on fans to donate.

Mark Sennett, chairman of supporters’ trust OxVox, said: “We want to raise £5,000, but hope for even more.

“Your generosity will not only provide Dave with vital funds for a new home, but allow him and you to enjoy his medals forever when they go on display at the club.”

Langan said: “I’d just like to say thanks to OxVox and the club for getting behind this initiative – it’s given me a huge lift as things are a bit difficult at the moment.”

Fans have two months to hit the target, or the medals will be put up for auction.
