FOR the second successive week, Oxfordshire snatched defeat from the jaws of victory as they fell to a two-wicket defeat away to Wiltshire in a friendly at Calne.
Oxon got off to a solid start after winning the toss, Markus Jeacock and Dominic O’Connor sharing 91 for the second wicket, Jeacock finishing with 51 and O’Connor 30.
Their total of 197-7 off 50 overs was competitive and after Jason Cardy and Saim Hussain dismissed Wiltshire’s openers, Oxon were on top.
Although wickets tumbled regularly, Wiltshire were always up with the rate, and, aided by 34 wides, they won with seven balls to spare.
