Oxford United’s fan organisations have pledged to work more closely together next season, forming the Yellow Army.

The club is backed by supporters’ trust OxVox, transfer fundraisers the 12th Man and a third group who orchestrate the Ultimate Support days.

The trio will continue to exist, but they have agreed to strengthen their ties to work more effectively.

Charlie Methven, trustee of the Oxford United Youth and Community Trust, will co-ordinate the Yellow Army with the leaders of the three organisations.

Their first goal is raising £20,000 to boost United’s resources during the January transfer window.

The 12th Man have raised £50,000 in recent seasons and spokesman Trevor Lambert said: “By working together with OxVox, Ultimate Support and the club, we’re convinced that a target of £20,000 in the next five months is achievable.”

Mark Sennett, OxVox chairman, said: “As an organisation we want to do more, and we will also be the stronger for working alongside all the other groups.”

Joe Nicholls, whose Ultimate Support days have aimed to boost the atmosphere at games, agreed.

He said: “It’s a great way to get everyone working to the same goal, which should always be to help the club move forward.”
