WILL Preece claimed 17 birdies and one eagle during a 100-hole epic at Chipping Norton.

The junior captain’s efforts in the Dawn to Dusk Golf Marathon raised more than £1,100 for local charity Daisy’s Blades.

He teed off just before 5am and brought up the century almost 17 hours later.

Remarkably despite the tough challenge, the 16-year-old, who plays off three, finished just one-over-par for his five and a half rounds.

Richard Blayney was alongside him for four rounds, while brother Ed, Stewart Allen, Harry Melling, Kathryn Pitts and assistant professional Danny Phillips also played a part.

The money was raised for Daisy Pashley lost part of all four limbs after contracting meningitis when she was seven.

Preece met the nine-year-old at an awards ceremony last year and quickly made Daisy’s Blades his chosen charity.

The fund was set up to buy special running blades to help achieve her ambition of reaching the Paralympics.

  • JOAN Thornhill won Chippy’s Ladies Edward Douglas Stableford with 42 points, ahead of Sue Sinson (40) and Jenny Reynolds (39).
