Oxfordshire captain Luke Ryan shone with bat and ball as Banbury beat Lutterworth by 11 runs in the first round of the Kingfisher Cup.
Ryan hammered 46 off 36 balls, with seven fours to help the visitors reach 260-8 off their 45 overs.
Nathan Hawkes top-scored for Banbury with a rapid 68 off 46 balls, while Ed Phillips was 52 not out.
Lutterworth started well, but left-arm spinner Ryan halted their progress, with 4-26 from nine overs as the Leicestershire hosts finished just short on 249-8.
Banbury now entertain Saffron Walden on May 12.
On the same day, Oxford will visit Garden City after completing a comfortable 43-run success away to Middlesex side Cockfosters.
