Henley player James Comben has received a six-month ban for an anti-doping violation.
Comben tested positive for the prohibited stimulant methylhexanamine after appearing for Wasps A team against Exeter Braves in an Aviva A League game at Henley last November.
A three-man RFU disciplinary panel suspended Comben from December 21 (the date of an original temporary suspension) until June 20 this year.
“There has been an enormous amount of publicity about doping,” said panel chairman Jeff Blackett. “A player who plays in the RFU National Leagues or in the A team of a professional Premiership side must know that he is responsible for all substances ingested.” Henley are pushing for promotion from National League 2 South.
Goal-kicker Comben, who has missed much of this season with a shoulder injury, was a star performer for them last season and during the early part of their current campaign.
