PAUL Powell smashed in a five-timer as North Berks League Division 1 title challengers Didcot Casuals ran riot by trouncing struggling visitors Sutton Courtenay 11-0, writes PHIL ANNETS.

Rob Joyce and Dan Cox-Rodgers hit braces, while Fletcher Hoey and Ross Tyler completed the rout.

Didcot stay six points behind leaders Saxton Rovers, who had a tight 2-1 victory at Faringdon Town.

Martin Young and Danny Parry scored, with Robbie Harrington replying.

It now looks like a two-horse race after third-placed Wootton & Dry Sandford were held 2-2 at home by Crowmarsh Gifford.

Luke Ingram and Chris Potter struck for Wootton, but their efforts were cancelled out by James Lee and Sam Whiteley.

Goals from Andy Cooper, Andy Marriott, Callum Bowler, Ryan Scott and Matt Saunders gave Long Wittenham Athletic a resounding 5-1 win at Childrey United, who replied through Sam Weeks.

AFC Wallingford needed an Alex Stanlila winner deep into injury time to see off visitors East Hendred 1-0.

In Division 2, Dorchester were held 2-2 at home by Coleshill United.

Josh McInnerny and Josh Axtell netted for Dorchester, with Richard Evans bagging a brace for the visitors.

Hagbourne United won Division 3’s basement battle 10-1 at East Hendred Res, with Dan Dawson and Matt Chomyn netting four each.

Connor Dawson and Alex Rodman also scored for the away side, while Derek Tenderkay netted the reply.

Sutton Courtenay Res ran out 13-0 winners at home to Appleton Stars in Division 5.

Ian Dingwall hit four, Dan McEwan notched two and other goals came from Dan Page, Wayne Grant, Dave Southey, Tom Quinan, Pawel Brodzinski and Shane Matthews.

Wantage Town A exacted revenge for their Nairne Paul Trophy semi-final exit at the hands of fellow Division 2 side Abingdon United Res by winning their AG Kingham Cup semi-final re-match 3-1.

Marc Reid’s double and a Ben Hummel strike proved decisive, while Steve Pitson netted in vain for Abingdon.

In a quarter-final tie, Coleshill United Res strolled through 6-1 against fellow Division 4 side Steventon Res, with James Tranter and Dave Colman hitting a hat-trick apiece. Dan Gunston scored for Steventon.

Goals from Neil Smith and Vaughan Just gave Division 3 side Childrey United Res a 2-0 win over Division 4 side Blewbury Res in their Nairne Paul Trophy semi-final.
