ROSE Hill Judo Club took a seven-strong squad to the BJC Southern Region Championships in Kent - and four juniors returned with medals.

Sean Pittick, 13, picked up a silver and Jake Fleetwood, 14, the bronze in the under 5th Kyu (novice) groups.

Damian Cox, 14, won bronze in the boys over 56kg weight group and Sophia Cox, 12, claimed bronze in the girls under 43kg.

Ben Clifton fought valiantly in the men's under 73kg, as did Sam Knight and Paul Beesley in the men's under 81kg.

Coach Nic Scott said: "The senior players picked up a silver and three bronze medals at the Kent Open in April, and so this result from the weekend can only go to strengthen the club."

The club train on Friday evenings at Rose Hill Community Centre, between 7-8.30pm for juniors, and 7-9pm for seniors.

They are looking for male and female players of all ages, and are also seeking sponsorship.
