Linear Fisheries have been busy restocking their lakes at Stanton Harcourt after netting one of their stock ponds with the help of Simon Scott and some first-year students from Sparsholt College.

The purpose was to move as many 4-5lb carp into Brasenose-2 Lake. Some 249 carp averaging 8lb went in, including some doubles.

A number of perch, roach, tench and pike went into St John's Lake.

There are now roughly 1,150 carp up to low 20s in Brasenose-2, with a mixture of linears, fully scaled, commons and less scaley mirrors. There are also a few ghost commons and mirrors.

AN Oxfordshire stillwater has produced another big roach, this time to Eynsham angler Carly Hart during a carp session.

He had already landed a superb common weighing 31.8.0, which took a Mainline Activ 8 boilie.

Bites dried up, so he changed tactics by down-sizing his rig and within an hour he was slipping the net under a roach weighing 2.12.0.

After weighing and putting this fish back, he had another of 3.8.0.

Both fish took a whittled down boilie fished over a bed of hemp and pellets.

HARD on the heels of last week's best mirror carp of 43lb from Hardiwck/Smith's Lake at Linear Fisheries, now the Oxlease Lake record has been smashed by a fish of 38.10.0 caught by Kennington carper Ashley Street.

He baited up an area about 40 yards out with a sloppy spod mix, and then fished a dynamite meaty marine boilie over the top.

I CALLED in at Fat Phil's tackle shop last Monday evening and he tells me he is is trying to organise a get-together of all parties who use the local stretch of the Thames - anglers, boaters, rowers etc.

The river is there for all of us to enjoy, but Phil feels that some parties are spoiling it for other users.

He has already spoken to a couple of rowing clubs, although Oxford University Rowing Club as yet have not responded to his email.

His main areas of concern are Medley, Donnington and Radley and Phil feels that before we all fall out with each other it would be nice if these problems could be talked about and some compromise reached.

He can be contacted on 01865 201020.
