Fieldside A stretched their lead at the top of the Premier Division as they romped to a 6-0 victory at home to former leaders Riley A, writes DAVID WHITE.

Mick Bennett got the ball rolling with a 54-17, 79-6 win against John Butcher.

Riley's Ron Reddy faired no better as he was soundly beaten 67-14, 74-25 by Paul Robinson, who made a break of 43.

Karl Walker completed the rout with a 74-3, 52-29 victory against Tony Hicks, making a break of 49 in the process.

In Division 1, Cherwell A went top after a 3-3 draw with Ashton A.

Ray Benwell got the better of Alan King in the opening frames to give Cherwell the lead, but Ashton levelled through Pete Fenn, who saw off Steve Benwell.

This set up a tense finale between Andy Benwell and Ashton captain Terry Chambers.

Chambers took the fifth frame 66-39 to put Ashton ahead for the first time, but a break of 24 enabled Benwell to take the final frame 56-29.

New Club B and Riley C shared the points in a see-saw encounter that saw all six players win a frame.

Ian Gee gave New Club an early lead when he beat Altaf Ali 55-26, but Ali came back to win the next 72-34.

Riley then went ahead through Ed Downey, who beat Justin Shepherd 53-40, only for Shepherd to claim the second frame 58-21.

Alan Mander won the fifth frame 48-14 to put New Club ahead for the second time in the match, but he could not stop Simon Surrage from winning the final frame 50-39 to leave the match tied.

County B saw off title rivals Oracle A 4-2 in Division 2.

Matty Bramall and Nick Anderson traded the opening frames, then Lewis Bland and Jamie Saczak also won a frame each, Bland taking the third 65-45 thanks to a 30 clearance.

County's match-winner was Kevin Hicks, who defeated Dave Noake 63-39, 68-21.

Cowley Con B's Mark Bayliss increased the division's highest break to 40, but that was the only highlight for his side, who slipped to a 4-2 defeat at home to Morris Motors B.

Bayliss's break came in the second frame of the match in which he defeated Ian Dibley 98-13. Bayliss had earlier won the first 48-29.

From then on, the Motormen were in control, James Kerr beat Jim Smart Jnr 53-42, 55-24, before Paul Smith saw off Guy Baker 66-17, 67-37 to seal victory.

Thame B moved up to third with a 4-2 victory against leaders Cowley Con A.

Dave White and Keith Pearce traded the opening frames, before Thame's Derek Syrett and Cowley's Malcolm Grieveson did likewise.

Thame captain Tom Fletcher secured the victory, seeing off Arthur Coakley in the final two frames.

In Division 4, Cowley Workers A moved up to second with a 5-1 win against Cherwell B, while Division 5 leaders New Club B crushed House Club B 5-1 to stay top.
