WITNEY have mixed injury news ahead of tomorrow's third round South West trip to Trowbridge, but captain Jez Hicks is full of confidence.

Full back Johnny Wheater makes his first start since fracturing a cheekbone, but scrum half Gareth Campbell could be out until Christmas with a shoulder injury.

Carl Strutt takes over the No 9 shirt and Tom Harper moves to inside centre.

Hicks said: "Gareth picked up the injury last week against Newbury Stags.

"It's a bit of a shame as he has been playing really well, but Carl has played at No 9 before.

"I think we are pretty high on confidence as we've been winning a lot of games.

"They play at the same level as us, but are in the bottom half of the league.

Witney have shuffled their pack up front with prop Mark Serle and No 8 Owen Fowler both coming in.

Hicks added: "We don't want to keep people on the bench for too long.

"It's the first season for a long time where we have had that luxury. There's a lot of players pushing for places."

Bicester will be without at least six first-choice players for their trip to Gloucester Premier side Old Richians.

Adam Spencer (shoulder injury), Ross Kenny (broken finger), Paul Leverton (holiday), James Shouler (wedding) are sidelined, while Dickie Walsh and Chris Giles are off to watch England at Twickenham.

Coach Andy Baulch said: "We have good numbers at training, so there are plenty of guys in the seconds and colts who can come in and know how we play."

Craig Smith, who scored a try on his debut against Gosford All Blacks, returns after a thumb ligament injury.

Flanker Dan Spencer completes his comeback from a shoulder injury in the second team.
