Oxfordshire's first team were whitewashed 15-0 by Kent in their Inter County Championship match at Gillingham.
Kent fielded a powerful side for the Division 1C contest, including three former national champions.
However, there was much better news of Oxon 2nd, who were a match point away from beating Kent 3rd in Division 3C at the same venue, but fell 8-7.
David Andrew and Andy Purrott held match point at 20-19 in the deciding game of their men's doubles but lost 22-20, giving Kent their winning eighth rubber.
Oxon then took all three mixed but Kent had already passed the winning post.
Earlier, Andrew had been involved in a long singles which he lost 21-19 in the decider.
At Abingdon, Oxon under 17s went down 14-6 to Sussex.
The only home player to make a real dent was Oxford's Jonathan Campbell, who was unbeaten with a singles win, two doubles with James Mignanelli, and a mixed with Lauren Cooper.
