DIDCOT Town’s winning run was stretched to five games with a 1-0 home success over Shortwood in the Evo-Stik Southern League tonight.
But they were made to work all the way in a tough Division 1 South & West clash.
The only goal of the game came on 13 minutes and was a brilliant effort. Elliot Osborne-Ricketts flicked the ball onto Mark Janes and he beat the last defender before volleying in off the underside of the bar.
Abingdon United returned to winning ways with a 2-0 home victory over Tiverton.
Matty Biddle’s strong header put them ahead on seven minutes, while Aaron Woodley came close to extending the lead.
Abingdon sat back and soaked up the pressure after the break, then sealed the spoils in the last minute.
Nick Christodolou raced into the area and blasted home to make it 2-0.
