Adam Greenaway fired in four goals as Saxton Rovers moved three points clear at the top of North Berks League Division 1 with an emphatic 8-1 win at Sutton Courtenay, writes PHIL ANNETS.

Frankie Haines claimed a hat-trick and Tom Butler scored the other as Saxton stole a march on their rivals, who were either involved in cup matches or saw their games postponed.

In Division 2, Marcham shared the points in a 1-1 draw at home to Wantage Town A. Courtney Kelly’s goal for Marcham was cancelled out by Ben Hummel’s strike.

Bottom club Benson Lions lost 4-2 at home to Lambourn Sports Res.

Goals from Simon Bailey and Pat Crowley weren’t enough for Lions as Damian Harris (2), Mark Mooney and Ben Hopkins scored for Lambourn.

Pat Walsh hit a hat-trick for Milton United Res in their 5-3 win at home to Marcham Res in Division 3.

Jack Alder and Dan Os-bourne netted Milton’s other goals, while Mike Allen-Bloomfield, James Foster and Matt Banks scored for Marcham.

Luke Ingram grabbed a four-timer as Wootton & Dry Sandford romped to an 8-1 win at Benson AFC in the North Berks Charity Shield quarter-finals.

Josh Nicholls, Tom Srawley, Dave Humphreys and Adam Brooks also scored in the rout, with James Passey netting what was an equaliser at the time for Benson.

Division 4 outfit Westminster pushed Division 1 opponents AFC Wallingford all the way, before going down 3-2 on penalties after the sides were locked at 0-0 for 120 minutes.

Crowmarsh Gifford Res had two men sent off in the first 20 minutes as they went down 5-0 at home to Faringdon Town A in the North Berks League Cup second round.

Robbie Harrington scored twice alongside goals from Nick Wojcik, Rob Ward and Lee Rundle.

In the quarter-finals, Division 5 side Radley Res won 4-1 at home to Division 4 opponents Steventon Res.

Tom Bruce (2), Andy Lawrence and Simon Barnaby netted, with Stuart Coppock replying.

Andie Sampson’s brace gave Division 5 side Berinsfield Res a 2-1 win at Division 4 strugglers Stanford in the Vale Res, who replied through Tom Jackson.

Long Wittenham Athletic Res moved up to second in Division 4 following a 2-1 home win over Wootton & Dry Sandford Res.

Nick Brown and Matt Burton were on target, with Darren Webster netting for the visitors.

Jon Wells scored the winner as Grove Rangers triumphed 1-0 at Warborough United.
