WILL Millett scored two tries in a man-of-the-match display as Chinnor overcame a dogged Canterbury side 31-18 at Kingsey Road.

The 18-year-old fly half produced two moments of magic to cross the line twice, but was just as notable in defence.

Canterbury took the lead with a penalty from fly half Scott Browne, while full back Henry Colver replied in kind for Chinnor.

Chinnor centre Matt Goode barged over for a try on 19 minutes, Colver converting.

Canterbury ended the half on top and full back Martyn Beaumont’s try saw them trail just 10-8 at the break.

Millett sliced through for Chinnor’s second try on 46 minutes, Colver converting.

But it was soon 17-15 after Canterbury scrum half Peter Marshall darted over for Browne to convert.

Lock David Hughes showed surprising pace to run in Chinnor’s third try on 68 minutes, Colver converting.

Browne slotted a penalty, but Millett’s superb interception try, converted by Goode, wrapped it up for Chinnor, who climbed to sixth.

Henley Hawks stayed second after winning 25-15 at Lydney on a gluepot pitch.

Lydney fly half Dan Trigg put them ahead with a penalty, which was cancelled out by Henley No 10 Will Robinson.

Scrum half Jonah Holmes set up wing Xavier Andre for Henley’s opening try.

Robinson converted this and added a penalty for 13-3.

The fly half scored Henley’s second try after full back Martin Nutt broke six tackles to find him.

Hawks could not add to their tally until 70 minutes when they forced Lydney to stand up in a scrum and referee Fergus Kirby awarded a penalty try, converted by Robinson.

Henley lost concentration.

Lydney replacement Ben Taylor was driven over and centre Chris Holder won the race to touch down No 2, Trigg converting.

Taylor was sin-binned for a dangerous tackle on Henley’s Luke Carter, while the visitors were held up on the final play.
