Round-up

CHIPPING Norton came on strong to defeat Gosford All Blacks 34-6 at Greystones in the BB&O Premier Division.

Barry Nutt and Gosford skipper Tim Ellis traded early penalties, but tries from prop Ben Davey and No 8 Neil Stannard, the latter converted by Nutt, put Chippy 15-3 ahead.

Ellis slotted a second penalty after the break, while scrum half Matt Dawson forced his way over for Chippy.

Fly half Sam Jackson’s late brace wrapped up the home win, Nutt converting both.

Bicester saw off struggling Harwell 22-5 at Oxford Road.

Prop Tom Horwood was driven over for Bicester’s opening try on 30 minutes and No 8 Dan Spencer scampered over for 10-0.

Debutant Will Hammond went over for tries No 3 and 4, the former converted by fellow centre Tom Bass.

Wing Joe Pigott grabbed a consolation try for Harwell.

Abingdon beat visitors Didcot 38-14 in their BB&O Championship derby.

Didcot gave Abingdon a scare to lead 9-0 via three Josh Witt penalties.

But the hosts hit back with 38 unanswered points.

Wing Robert Tyreman (2), full back Benny Samuel, scrum half Ollie Young, wing Luke Matthews and No 8 Gareth Smith all crossed over, with fly half Mark Roberts converting four.

Didcot’s Ronnie Booth scored a late consolation try.

Faringdon lost 12-10 at Winslow after passing up a late kick at goal.

Darren Clark converted his own try to put Faringdon 7-0 up, but Winslow replied with two tries and a conversion.

Clark’s penalty reduced the arrears in the second half, but the hosts opted to go for a try from a late penalty chance.
