Ardley United went second in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division with a 7-0 demolition of revamped Witney Town on Saturday.

Troy Bryan and Joe Eyre scored hat-tricks for the hosts, with Ollie Stanbridge adding the final goal.

High-riding Wantage Town suffered a surprise 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Wokingham & Embrook.

The game turned on a 31st-minute penalty when Wantage full back Tom Butler was ruled to have brought down Wokingham forward Sam Duffelen. Nick Bateman drilled the spot-kick past Gareth Tucker in the Wantage goal to give the visitors the points. With the home side pushing forward in the second half, Wokingham’s breaks looked more dangerous, and Tucker saved brilliantly from Matt Jones.

Wantage’s scheduled match at Ab-ingdon Town tomorrow night has been switch to Alfredian Park as the Culham Road ground is still waterlogged.

Kidlington’s haul away from the drop zone continued with a 4-2 win at home to Newbury. Goals from Tommy Castle and Jack Dunmall put Kidlngton 2-0 ahead before the half-hour mark.

Although Newbury pulled a goal through Barry Elmore, Jimmy Dea-bill’s powerful header made it 3-1 before half-time.

Newbury rallied and Jamie Green reduced the arrears.

However, Dunmall netted his second late on to secure the points.

Oxford City Nomads drew 1-1 at Holyport. Jamie West scored for the hosts, with Adam Lovegrove replying for Nomads. Thame United moved into the top six with a 3-1 defeat of Highmoor Ibis.

Alex Stewart and Ben Gray (2) were the scorers for Thame, with Liam Ferdinand netting Highmoor’s goal.
