Striker Felipe Barcelos turned on the Brazilian magic with four first-half goals as Oxford City went goal mad to beat bottom club Hinckley United 6-2 in Blue Square Bet North at Marsh Lane on Saturday, writes MATTHEW BRUCE.

All six of City’s goals came in a crazy first half, with Barcelos’s four-timer crammed into the 19 minutes before half-time.

There was time in between for Andy Ballard to score, after Steve Basham had fgiven Mike Ford’s men an early lead.

It took City just six minutes to get their noses in front when a simple through ball found Basham just inside the penalty area and he needed only the faintest touch to divert the ball past goalkeeper Robert Peet.

Hinckley responded well, with captain Declan Towers and Harvey Headley both going close.

But it was City who extend their lead thanks to an excellent solo effort from Barcelos in the 27th minute.

The striker received the ball midway into Hinckley's half and then dodged two challenges before firing into the corner of the net.

And City put the game beyond the reach of their visitors before half-time when a goal-kick was headed on to Barcelos, who burst through to beat his man and then coolly slot past the Hinckley 'keeper.

City were merciless and added another three before the break.

Barcelos notched his hat-trick after beating the offside trap to latch onto an incisive pass from Darren Pond and beat the defenceless keeper.

There was a hint of offside about the fifth, a simple lofted free-kick finding Ballard in acres of space, and he was left with the simple task of tapping home from five yards.

And Barcelos took advantage of some suicidal goalkeeping to score his fourth first-half goal.

Peet came rushing out of his area only to miss his kick, leaving the goal completely unguarded for Barcelos to stroke the ball into an empty net.

City took their foot off the gas in the second half and Hinckley were able to avoid further humiliation as they went on the attack themselves.

A cross-cum-shot from Jack Lane beat Matt Ingram, but not the post in the first minute of the half.

And they pulled a goal back when Ingram was beaten to the ball by the towering Liam Canavan, the loose ball falling to Theo Brown, who made no mistake.

Hinckley pulled a second goal back midway through the half, captain Declan Towers rising unchallenged to head home from a corner.

But that could not take the gloss off City's memorable day, as they recorded their biggest win of the season.
