MARA Yamauchi was something of a latecomer to international marathon running.
Having made her 26.2-mile debut in 2004 at the age of 30, she made impressive progress.

2010: New York City Marathon, USA (13th, 2.31.38). London Marathon (10th, 2.26.16). New York City Half-marathon, USA (winner, 1.09.25).
2011: Yokohama Women’s Marathon, Japan (3rd place, 2.27.24).
2012: London Olympics Women’s Marathon (DNF due to injury).
