JAMES Constable says Oxford United will only be able to look forward to their FA Cup meeting with Sheffield United if they are successful in league games over Christmas.
The striker scored one goal and made another as the U’s beat Accrington Stanley 2-0 on Tuesday to set up a third round meeting with the Blades.
It is the club’s best run in the competition for ten years, but in between they have four vital npower League Two fixtures – starting at home to Fleetwood Town tomorrow.
He said: “Obviously it’s going to be on the back burner for the next couple of weeks.
“There’s a few league games and hopefully we can get a few wins. “It would take the edge off the cup game if in the league games before it we didn’t pick up wins. “You want to be going into it off the back of good league form.”
The U’s have trips next week to Exeter City (Boxing Day) and AFC Wimbledon (December 29), before wrapping up the festive period at home to Cheltenham Town on New Year’s Day.
- BIG prizes will be up for grabs at tomorrow’s game in United’s Christmas Extravaganza.
The club have arranged special entertainment during the afternoon, along with their biggest ever prize draw.
