OXFORD Harlequins are determined to keep tomorrow’s rearranged clash with Amersham & Chiltern on home soil, despite this week’s flooding.

Quins were due to host Amersham in National 3 South West last Saturday, but waterlogging put paid to that.

“We are just hoping that the game is on,” said manager Steve Chadbone.

“We may have to move to the top pitch to keep the fixture at home, otherwise, according to the rules, we would have to offer to reverse the fixture.”

This would mean Amersham travelling to Oxford on April 6 instead.

Quins have injury doubts over locks Charlie Sammut (knee), Will Clayton (shoulder) and Luke Brown (neck).

Chadbone added: “The guys have responded to Josh Taumalolo’s training very well for the last two weeks, so it is a happy camp.

“This is a critical game and the boys are really up for it.”

Chinnor 2nd host Henley 2nd in round one of the Oxfordshire Cup on Sunday.

This season organisers have reverted to the policy of requiring clubs at National 2 South level or above to enter second teams.

Eligible players cannot have made more than three first-team starts or not started in any of their club’s last five first-team games.

Despite the restrictions, Chinnor head coach Jason Bowers said: “It is a competition we always support and we’ll certainly have a strong team out.

“We will look to continue the run, which has seen us win the cup for the last three years.”

Flanker Tim Muller will captain Witney when they host Grove on Sunday as regular skipper Jez Hicks is injured.

Joe Rowles reverts to the back row.

The other ties see Quins’ preliminary round conquerors, Oxford University Greyhounds, visit Banbury tonight, while Wallingford host Alchester on Sunday.
