Banbury United boss Edwin Stein says there is no reason why his side cannot target a top-six finish in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division this season.

On Saturday, 16th-placed Banbury thrashed leaders Hemel Hempstead and Stein wants them to take the confidence from that display away to Chesham United tomorrow.

“It was a very good win, “said Stein. “I don’t think our league position reflects how we have been playing.

“We needed to play to keep up our momentum. The result reflected the hard work done on and off the pitch which was covered in water the day before.

“When I got here I said my aim was to get into the top six and people thought I was mad.

“But we have turned it round. There has been a massive improvement since I arrived. Our recent signings Albi Skendi and Kynan Issac have done very well.

“I just ask for 100 per cent commitment from the players. Now it’s about consistency.”

Banbury are at full strength.

Didcot Town boss Gary Elkins will give a debut to Josh Webb and Callum Casson at home to Bridgwater Town in Division 1 South & West.

Midfielder Webb has been brought in on loan from Reading’s under 21 side, while left back Casson, has signed from Eastleigh.

“I’m excited as we have two new faces who I hope can have an impact,” said Elkins.

“I think some of the lads don’t feel under pressure for their places and that is reflecting in our performances.”

Didcot are without Lance Wiliams, who will have an MRI scan after suffering chest pains in Wednesday’s 4-0 loss at Winchester, while Morgan Williams had stitches in a leg.

Elliott Osborne-Rickett is banned, while James Clark is unavailable.

Elkins said: “We don’t know how long either of them will be out. We should know more about Lance after his scan.”

Abingdon United manager Richie Bourne hopes a lack of match practice will not hinder them at home to Clevedon.

Bourne’s men haven’t played since November 13 when they beat Yate Town 2-1.

“It’s been a nightmare – that’s nearly three weeks without a game,” said Bourne.

“I’m a bit nervous because we are going to be a bit rusty, so we’ll to have to dig in.”

Abingdon are without Kevin Halliday (away), Sam Tucker, Paul Taplin and Paul Baker (all banned), so Nick Christodoulou is recalled.
