LEE Cox says that Oxford United’s players will aim to carry on from where they left off against Northampton at Accrington tomorrow.

The midfielder, who is on-loan from Swindon but eligible to play in the FA Cup second-round clash, says there has been an extra spring in the step of the U’s team in training this week.

And they are determined to use last week’s win as a springboard.

“Reaching the third round is a great incentive to give more than we’ve got,” he said.

“If you can get a good run it can spill over into the league.

“The lads are buzzing after the win.

“We’ve had a good think about all the attacking stuff we’re doing and when we are on our game, how much we can cause team’s problem.

“We’ll be looking to take that into Saturday’s game and get a winning mentality.”

He added: “It doesn’t matter if it’s league or cup, we want to win every game and it all adds to confidence.

“You know conditions are going to be tough, but we have adapted to it before and I’m sure we will on Saturday.”

Cox’s loan expires in January and he has already stated, if possible, he would like to extend his stay at Oxford.

“I’ve not heard anything about it,” he said. “I am just enjoying my football here and that’s all I’m focused on at the moment.”
