THE horses have arrived and the atmosphere is building for The Fidelity Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials.

Events begin today at the Woodstock stately home and yesterday trainers and riders were putting the finishing touches to their preparations.

Competitor Ginny Howe, 24, of Duns Tew, said: “I am really looking forward to it.

“The course looks amazing – the ground looks pretty much perfect – and I think it is going to be a good event.”

Horse trials spokesman Sandy Thwaites said: “People should come down to see top riders from across the world in action, a whole range of attractions for families and to have a wonderful day out in the lovely surroundings of Blenheim Palace.”

Dressage, cross country and show jumping events will take place every day until Sunday. Picture: Mark Bassett
