TWO men have appeared in court charged with raping a woman as she walked home.
At Oxford Magistrates’ Court yesterday, Mark Just and Patrick Juste, both 25, were charged with raping a 21-year-old woman in Church Lane, Witney, on Saturday.
The alleged incident is said to have taken place next to Cogges Manor Farm shortly after midnight.
Neither men were required to enter a plea and will next appear at Oxford Crown Court on May 23. Just, of Sedge Way, Carterton, and Juste, of Sycamore Drive, Carterton, were remanded in custody.
Yesterday, West Oxfordshire area commander Chief Inspector Colin Paine, pictured, appealed for witnesses.
He added: “I believe there was a witness who was walking along Church Lane at the time of the act.
“He was white, tall and wearing dark clothing.
“He will know who he is and I would appeal for him to come forward. What he has seen is critical to the success of this investigation.” Anyone with information should call 08458 505505.
