PART of a road in West Oxfordshire has been reopened to motorists after being submerged in water for much of the morning.

Lower Road in Long Hanborough was closed both ways closed due to flooding underneath a railway bridge between Main Road and Church Road.

It has since reopened.

The closure came into effect as flood alerts remain in place on a number of Oxfordshire's rivers and waterways.

It is close to the River Evenlode, which began flooding last night after heavy rain caused water levels to soar.

As well as the Evenlode, the River Cherwell and the River Ray are also on alert.

Environment Agency officers were out at the rivers yesterday clearing blockages and monitoring water levels.

The public has been advised to be wary of floodwaters, which may be deep and fast flowing.
