PRIMARY school pupils sang their own songs to museum visitors.

The 23 pupils from Buckland CofE School near Faringdon entertained visitors to the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford earlier this month as part of the Oxford Lieder Festival.

Children from Years 3 and 4 took part in the lunchtime event.

Tristan Johnson, seven, said: “My favourite part was standing up in front of everybody.”

Katherine Childs, who teaches Years 3 and 4 and is the school’s music co-ordinator, said: “People from the festival came to the school and did several sessions with the children where they created and wrote songs.

“The children helped to write the music with the help of the workshop leaders and then they performed those songs at the Ashmolean. They all thoroughly enjoyed it.”
