A SPELLING blunder that left a road sign for Witney with a 'h' in it has been corrected for free, according to Highways England.
Last month the Government body was forced to apologise after drivers on the A34 spotted a new road sign directing drivers to Woodstock, Headington and Whitney.
A Freedom of Information request to Highways England has now revealed the sign cost £233.24 but that the manufacturer, who has not yet been named, replaced the sign for free as it was their error.
At the time a spokesman for Highways England said an investigation would be launched into how the mistake was made and how it escaped "quality control checks".
