A 13-year-old girl required hospital treatment after a can was thrown at her from a passing car in Oxford.

Police say the teenager suffered minor facial injuries after the assault happened while she was walking in Sandford Road between 6.10pm and 6.20pm on Wednesday.

A small silver car with blacked out windows passed her and a can was thrown and hit her in the face as she was walking towards Sandford-on-Thames.

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following the ABH incident and has described the offender as a white man aged in his 20s.

PC Jordan McClay, based at Cowley police station, said: "This has been a distressing incident for the victim, and resulted in her needing hospital treatment.

"I would like to speak to anyone who has any details relating to this. I believe there was another vehicle travelling behind the suspect’s car, and I would like to speak to the occupants of that vehicle, as they could have vital information."
