A woman was hospitalised after an attack in an alleyway on Friday night.
The ‘distressing’ ordeal took place at about 6.25pm in an alleyway between Richens Drive and Carr Avenue, Carterton.
The victim, a 36-year old woman was walking her dog when she was approached by a man who assaulted her.
The man attempted but failed to take her dog from her before fleeing the scene.
Police have now released a description of the man who is said to be white, about 25 years old, 5ft 8ins with a medium build.
He had blond, spiky hair and was wearing dark clothing.
The victim sustained facial injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.
Investigating officer PC Shelley Slater, of Witney Local Area CID, said: “This was a very frightening incident for the victim, which has understandably left her very distressed.
“If anyone was in the area at the time and witnessed this incident, or who has any information which they think could relate to it, I would urge them to contact Thames Valley Police on the non-emergency number 101.”
