DEVELOPMENT advisers for the Oxpens site in the heart of Oxford's west end have been appointed.

Oxford West End Developments Ltd (OXWED), a joint venture company owned by Oxford City Council and Nuffield College, has appointed JLL and Bidwells.

OXWED has found more than 11 acres of land for a residential led mixed-use development that could include commercial offices, hotel and university research space.

Both JLL and Bidwells were appointed because of their combined expertise in developing private sector specialist joint ventures and international marketing experience.

Fiona Piercy, Director of OXWED said: “We are very pleased with this appointment as it represents another step forward in the regeneration of this important site and towards achieving our ambition for a vibrant and sustainable new community.”

Between 300 and 500 new homes – including social housing and homes for key workers – are planned for the site.

Situated almost opposite the new John Lewis store, and located between the Westgate shopping centre and Oxford railway station, the Oxpens development will complete the regeneration of the city’s West End.
