COLOURFUL floats and creative costumes joined the carnival queen to take to the streets of Eynsham for its 69th carnival.
This year’s Eynsham Carnival included fire stunt shows, Punch and Judy and an eagle and vulture display.
Carnival committee chairwoman Julie Jordan said: “There were thousands of people there, I do think it [the turnout] was a little bit better than previous years, as the weather helped..”
Carnival queen Georgia Truby-Smith, 14, said: “It was a brilliant day. I presented the awards for the shirt race and the floats, met some nice people, went to the craft fair and was on the float in the parade.
“The day was fantastic and I would like to thank Julie Jordan for making my dress, and all the attendants.”
After the event’s 57th shirt race, which featured two-man teams and a range of buggies and prams, the parade was greeted by cheers from crowds of onlookers.
It was headed by a float carrying the Carnival Queen and her attendants.
The parade pulled up at Queen Elizabeth Playing Field just off Oxford Road.
The carnival is organised by a volunteer committee and received help from the Royal British Legion, Scout groups, St Leonard’s Church and the Rotary Club.
