FESTIVE treats and blossoming flowers will fill city centre streets this week as market traders uncover their produce.
About 20 traders from Oxford Covered Market will get into the great outdoors on Friday for their Oxford Market Uncovered event.
Residents are invited to join traders between 10am and 6pm along Market Street, Cornmarket Street and at the market, between High Street and Market Street.
Gordon Piggot, of McCarthy’s Fruit and Veg, said: “We would like more people to come through the market and use all the traders. We have great stuff in the market. We are all individual traders. We all are unique and specialists in what we do.

“We are personal and friendly and it’s completely different from a supermarket.”
The 46-year-old from Cumnor said it is important for traders to highlight the market to city residents. He added: “If we are not used then people are going to lose us and no one wants to lose the Covered Market.
“It’s an icon in Oxford.”
The Covered Market is open Monday to Saturday from 8am to 5.30pm and on Sundays from 10am to 4pm.
